From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. The Xbox (name derived from "DirectX box") is a video game console produced by Microsoft. It was Microsoft's first foray into the gaming console market, and competed with Sony's PlayStation 2, Sega's Dreamcast, and Nintendo's GameCube. The integrated Xbox Live service allows players to compete online. The Xbox was released on November 15, 2001 in North America, February 22, 2002 in Japan, and March 14, 2002 in Australia and Europe. It is the predecessor to Microsoft's Xbox 360 console. It was discontinued in late 2006, although the final Xbox game (Madden NFL 09) was released in August 2008. Support for out-of-warranty Xbox consoles was discontinued on March 2, 2009; any in-warranty repair now needed will not be undertaken and faulty consoles will replaced with an Xbox 360 instead. Yes to play the older system games you need a hard drive and frankly a 20Gb is more that enough room i keep lots of stuff on mine from game info to music files and still have tons of space left. BTW if you want a bargain you can find lots of 20GB hard drives on Ebay and at stores like Gamestop for around $50. Q. OK, so I have 2 Xbox's and 3 controllers. In order to switch a controller to the other Xbox, I have to unplug the power and connect. The problem is, one Xbox is upstairs and one is down. There is a simple mechanism Microsoft has built into Xbox 360 controllers to allow them to be used on any console. There is a small button on the top of the Xbox 360 controller that is adjacent to the charging port. There is another button on your console that is similar to it right on the front. These are reffered to as the 'Sync' buttons. These do exactly what you are trying to, syncing a console with a particular controller. First, momentarily hold the button that is on the console until the ring of light begins flashing/spinning, then do the same to the button on your controller, and the lights on it will flash as well.
