Microsoft Expression Studio, Web, Blend, Design, Media, Encorder? How do i know which one i need?
Q. Can anyone give me a summary of each of them? I wanna buy for website design, which one shall I buy? I want something like frontpage.
Asked by Roamer - Tue May 13 16:57:27 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Well this is simple Microsoft Expression Web is the web editor (which was once called Microsoft Frontpage). Microsoft office doesn't really have support for flash (embedding it) more or less so this is why the have Microsoft media because it allows you to build applications. I am not familiar with the other two . I bought expression web when it came out and I looked at the site and see they have expression web 2 now thats interesting it says it supports php now which is great because before it was asp only of course and maybe it supports flash better now. It sounds like Microsoft is bettering their product.

What Web Creation Software is more user friendly than Adobe DreamWeaver?
Q. I am currently building a website so you can guess I am quite a Noob in the Website Sector. I have my focus on building a website with quite some graphics in it (backgrounds, behind text, etc.) but DreamWeaver according to what I have seen is unbelievably limited in placing things where you want them to be, they have to be "in-line-with" text the whole time. The only way I have seen to get around this problem is building onle large image in Illustartor and Photoshop and paste it piece by piece into DreamWeaver ? Or is this how it is done ? I use PowerPoint an awful lot because I love how you can instantly import a wide range of shapes and images and change them, move them around - anywhere ! A. Just build an Access database. make a VB project the will connect to the batabase from a server. that way who ever install the program and runs it will all have the same info. I did that for a employee database. Downside to mine is you got to conect to the server with VPN. No big deal really. you could fix that. Just make it MYSQL database.

Should I keep these applications on my computer?
Q. Even though, I don't use them now. HDD Space is not a problem at the moment. Or should I uninstall them? Microsoft Expression: -Blend 2 -Design 2 -Encoder 2 -Media 2 SP2 -Studio 2 -Web 2 They take up about 280MB each. Also they didn't cost me anything. PS. I obtained them legally through MSDN Alliance.

A. If they aren't causing any problems and you have no need for disk space, you might want to use them in the future, so why not keep them? If they're running in the background taking up system resources though, that's a different matter.

A. First, get rid of Kaspersky and all the other Spyware programs you have. Do a Google search on Smitfraud Fix. Run that in safe mode. While in safe mode, go to Start>Control Panel>Internet Options>and delete Cookies and Temp Files on the General tab. Reboot into normal mode. Then download AVG Free and SUPER AntSpyware from majorgeeks.com, both are free. Run Super first, reboot and then run AVG. After AVG is done run Super again. If you are still having issues at that point, reinstall your visual studio software.

A. If you program, whilst developing your program you constantly get this and therefore is a programming error. In C++ you can use the command ASSERT to determine whether something you expect to occur, has or not, at any particular time, if not you will get this message. Sometimes it is innocent and the program proceeds as you expect (but it is bad practise to not know and not fix it). This, however, does not help you as this message to a program user is just a nuisance. Apart from the author of the program you are using debugging it, there's not too much you can do.

I constantly get this error message on my computer?
Q. It says: Debug assertion failed! Program: C/Program files/ Internet Explorer/IEXPLORER.EXE File: C/Program Files (x86)/ Microsoft visual studio 90/VC/atlmfc/include/atba se.h Line: 5486 Expression: m_hKey !=0 For information on how your program can cause an assertion failure, see the visual c++ documentation on asserts (Press retry to debug the application) Then at the bottom it gives the the option of abort, retry, and ignore. Abort freezes my computer, retry does nothing, and Ignore makes it go away until i click on a link or change websites, then it comes back. At the top of the message it says " Microsoft Visual C++ Debug library" Can anyone explain any of this to me?

Do I need to reinstall my PC? C++ issue (mainly with Browsers)?

What's wrong with my C# source code?
Q. I'm writing a program in C# for my structured programming class. These are the directions: Write a program for a college's admissions office. The user enters a numeric high school grade point average (for example, 3.2) and an admission test score. Print the message "Accept" if the student meets either of the following requirements: >> A grade point average of 3.0 or higher and an admission test score of at least 60 >> A grade point average of less than 3.0 and an admission test score of at least 80 If the student does not meet either of the qualification criteria, print "Reject". Save the program as Admission.cs. Okay, now here's my source code: using System; using System.Collections.Generi c; using System.Linq; using System.Tex [cont.]

A. With C derivates everything has to be in brackets and you are missing the outside set if ((gPA >= 3.0 && testScore >= 60) || (gPA < 3.0 && testScore >= 80)) It is also good programming practice to bracket all sections, do not count on precedence. So, the better answer is: if (((gPA >= 3.0) && (testScore >= 60)) || ((gPA < 3.0) && (testScore >= 80))) P.S. simple syntax errors can really throw off the parser which is why you get multiple errors for the one problem.

Looking for new web site development software?

This is for a not-for-profit consumer advocacy site so cost and efficiency are important. I can do some hard coding but don't have the time to code from scratch so some form of WYSIWYG is needed. I don't have time to relearn HTML or update my CSS skills. However, proper site layout and design is a skill I still have... I just need a hand in putting it to the web.
