It was Microsoft's first foray into the gaming console market, and competed with Sony's PlayStation 2, Sega's Dreamcast, and Nintendo's Nintendo GameCube. The integrated Xbox Live service allows players to compete online. The Xbox was released on November 15, 2001 in North America, February 22, 2002 in Japan, and March 14, 2002 in Australia and Europe. It is the predecessor to Microsoft's Xbox 360 console. It was discontinued in late 2006, although the final Xbox game was released in August 2008. Support for out-of-warranty Xbox consoles was discontinued on March 2, 2009, although in-warranty repairs will still be done. From Wikipedia under the

Yes to play the older system games you need a hard drive and frankly a 20Gb is more that enough room i keep lots of stuff on mine from game info to music files and still have tons of space left. BTW if you want a bargain you can find lots of 20GB hard drives on Ebay and at stores like Gamestop for around $50. Q. I unlocked some achievements on Battlefield: Bad Company. I transferred my gamer profile to my friend's xbox. When I recovered my profile back to my xbox, my achievements that I got playing offline disappeared. When I started a new game to regain the achievements, it didn't award it. Well, long story short, your achievements are gone. If you unlock achievements offline then recover your gamertag, everything offline will be lost, and it warms you of this before you recover. what you will have to do is play and get them again... it happened to me in quatom of solace.
